BIG HEADS, STAR PIZZA AND THE ART CAR MUSEUM
Our event on Saturday, June 16, starts at 10:30 am at Betz Art Foundry which is located at 2500 Summer St. off of Sawyer St. between I-10 and Washington Ave. We will then move on to Star Pizza on Washington Ave. and finish the Washington corridor tour at The Art Car Museum on Heights Blvd.
Betz Art Foundry is the location where the giant figures and presidential heads built by David Adickes are stored. The foundry manager will give us a tour of the facility before we head to lunch.
The Music Monster, the art car built by Patrick Renner and art students at Sharpstown International School for the 2012 Art Car Parade, is expected to make a guest appearance at Star Pizza. However, like MGs, The Monster is an adventure every time it is driven, so no promises are made. Regardless, you can expect to enjoy terrific pizza and cold drinks with good friends.
After everyone has eaten and drunk their fill, we will caravan four blocks to the world renowned Art Car Museum to see the cars, memorabilia and artwork that makes the Art Car Museum so deservedly famous.
Parking is at a premium at the museum, but arrangements have been made to allow MGs to park in the lot adjacent to the building. Our lesser cars are invited to park in the grassy median across from the museum if the lot fills up. Admission to the Art Car Museum is free though donations are always accepted. Remember, non-profits need love too.
Come take the whole tour or join us anywhere along the way. For further information, contact Dave Renner at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 713-301-7620 .
