Circuit of the Americas Vintage Racing and Car Show
The Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) is conducting its third annual Vintage Racing National Championships the weekend of November 7th and 8th at the massive new racing complex near Austin.
In previous years this event has attracted between 400 and 600 vintage racers from all across the country. All types, marques and age of vintage racecars have been represented– from prewar racers to 60’s and 70’s sports racers and modified production cars. Many cars are one-offs that you might never have seen outside of books, some may be worth millions of dollars, while others are based on more humble production cars, including MG T, A, B and Midgets. This is a rolling car show that you’d not otherwise see without traveling to the U.S. coasts or to Europe.
In conjunction with the races, SVRA sponsors a Classic Car Show that invites all types of classic and exotic cars. Entry into the show is $75, but this includes two two-day tickets to the event (normally $30 per person per day), and, track conditions permitting, the chance to drive your classic on the Formula 1 track at the end of the day. You can also stick around for the Marshall Tucker Band that evening and enjoy the firework display.
For further information see the link below. Note that preregistration online is recommended, as day-of-the-show registration is $85 and is subject to space availability.
Oh, and while you are there, cheer for me in my 1974 MG Midget. I’ll be racing in Group 1. Look for the red car with #57 on the side!
