Flat Stanley has been seeing a bit of the world with the Nash's.  Byron and Libby have taken Stanley from the tropics to Alaska and from what I understand he has enjoyed the travels.

Flat Stanley and Libby in Anigua, Guatemala.  A splended time was had by all.

First stop on their Alaskan cruise - Vancouver, Canada

Whittier, Alaska the last stop on the cruise

If your travels take you some where fun, Flat Stanley and his friends would love to join you.  You can pick one of them up at the Club's monthly meetings.  It is a great way to share your adventures with us all.

At the September monthly meeting club member Jim Goldmeyer shared with us photos that he used to win honorable mention in last year's Thornley Challenge.  The Thornley Challenge is a photo scavenger hunt hosted by the NAMGBR where participants are given a long list of locations, sites or scenes that they are to take a photo with their car, The NAMGBR's The Driver magazine and themselves in the frame along witht the assigned subject.   Jim did a great job, with a bit of humor, sharing with us how he successfully captured the photos.  He traveled across the southern U.S. visiting many unique sites and locations.  In some cases he had to have a detailed plan to get the photo.  In other cases, it was totally seredipitous, being in the right place at the right time.  And yes, he received special dispensation to drive his Mini Cooper.  I suspect this created a bit of consernation on the part of the NAMGBR team.

We love hearing from club members.  If you have a story to share send us an email or catch Bob Chalker at one of our future events.

Here is the latest Kimber Spirit Award update.  Have a question about which events you've attended.  Or maybe you think we have miscounted.  I have also attached a link to a spreadsheet where you can see the entire list of events so that you can firm that you are getting the appropriate credit.

Are you a MG fanatic?  Do you love learning about all things MG? Are you and Anglophile?  Is history, or auto racing, or techology your thing?  Maybe you are none of those but just enjoy a good story, then the MG Car Club Podcast is for you.  I recently came across this treasure of all things MG while reading the latest edition of The MG Driver from NAMGBR.  I have only listened to a few of them but the few I did listened to had me captivated.  If you have a few minutes of downtime or drivetime take a listen you won't be disappointed.

The Second Annual Battle of the Brits Charity Fundraiser Golf Tournament took place on the immaculate grounds of the Jersey Meadow Golf Course on June 8. Both sides were tuned up for this event; being the Second Annual, the tournament this year was the foundation of a tradition of links warfare between the LBC car clubs of Houston. The event was organized by the very capable Vernon Jones.

Fifteen participants took place in this year’s tournament. The competition was highlighted by a rare hole-in-one on the 169 yard long 11th hole by the organizer, Vernon Jones. The Texas scramble format of the tournament ensured everyone was competitive and that all participants had a great time on the links.

In the end, it was the team from Abingdon that prevailed for the second year in a row. The MG-B team came up with the lowest score. In addition to his hole-in-one, Vernon Jones also collected the trophy for closest to the pin. The tournament collected $200 to be donated to the HMGCC charity of choice, Isaiah 117 House of Montgomery & Walker Counties.

Until next year, the coveted Claret Mug will remain with the Marque of Friendship, MG. And make sure you don’t miss this event the next time The Tradition Continues!

Something tells me the Hardys may soon take the lead on this one unless someone else makes the trip to Calgary with them (there is still time to sign up).  GO SCOTT & TRISH!
