  • 2311 Canal Street, Houston

Our club member, Roald Lokken, has offered a guided tour event at the Houston Maritime Museum on Saturday, January 18 at 11:00 am.  Roald is a docent at the museum and will be personally guiding us through a 1.5 hour tour of this amazing museum. After our personal tour we’ll be heading over to Pitch 25 Beer Park located at 2120 Walker Street (5 minute drive), near the soccer stadium, for refreshments and a group lunch.

Over the past 15 years the museum has been on an incredible journey. Starting out as a small private museum for founder Jim Manzolillo’s extensive collection of maritime artifacts and ship models, the collection has grown to over eight galleries that cover the world of maritime history and culture from early navigation and exploration, to World War II and the modern merchant marine, and also to today’s energy industry. A highlight of the museum is the comprehensive exhibit on the history of Buffalo Bayou; the origins of the Houston Ship Channel and the impact of the port on our daily lives, the economy of Houston, and the nation.

Please join me in thanking Roald for hosting this event.  Hope to see y’all on Saturday, January 18th!
